Our Calling
Matthew 28:18-20 – And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Our Focus
Brookwood is committed to Great Commission-centered missions. While we affirm the importance of service (meeting physical needs) as described in Matthew 20:28, our missional priority is explicitly evangelistic. As we serve, pray, give, and go, we are seeking to “make disciples of all nations” by:
- Sharing the Gospel
- Teaching the Word
Brookwood also strives to follow an Acts 1:8 model that emphasizes evangelistic-missions locally, nationally, and internationally.
Defining Missions
What is service?
At Brookwood, we understand service as meeting the physical needs of others in the name of Christ. Jesus modeled this kind of ministry in Matthew 20:28.
What is missions?
Missions go a step further. While it may include meeting physical needs, Biblical missions always involves sharing the gospel and teaching God’s Word, in obedience to the Great Commission. Missions, by definition, is explicitly evangelistic.
Steps toward Biblical missions include:
- Abiding in prayer
- Building relationships with nonbelievers
- Sharing the gospel
- Discipling new believers
- Gathering in a local church
- Multiplying—making disciples who make disciples

A Heart for Revitalization & Church Planting
Here at Brookwood, we not only have a heart to see people come to faith in Christ and be discipled, but also to see existing churches revitalized and new churches planted across our city and around the world.
Lord willing, next Fall, we will send out one of our elders, Michael Daly, to plant Hope Church in the southwest area of Jacksonville. The current launch date for this plant is set for October 4th, 2026. Please join us in praying for Michael and the core team the Lord is raising up, as they prepare to go and start a new work in our city.
